The 12th SUN INN Steam & Vehicle Meet - Sat 17th Dec 2016.
The Annual Sun Inn Steam & Vehicle Meet was held at The Sun Inn at Lower Burton near Dorchester, the day started with the extra excitement of the Fire service racing to the pub as the pubs chimney was on fire !!
From as early as 9.00 vehicles / machinery was starting to arrive from all directions, sadly it was a misty morning however it was dry. Many regulars came plus a number of new vehicles to our friendly end of season event.
We had 4 small steam engines, 1 large steam engine ( steamed in from Wool area via Dorchester ), 6 Tractors our most ever, 6 stationary Engines, 4 Commercials, lots of cars, 1 Military vehicle ( came from Poole ) a first time visitor to us.
One of the star cars was a 1902 Renault 4hp that came from Stinsford and created a lot of interest, as did the 1925 Bullnose Morris car / tractor that came from Portland. This vehicle was made into a tractor at the factory and has attended a number of rallies during this year.
We were expecting a second large Steam engine, but due to illness the owner was unable to steam it to us this year, so we look forward to seeing this one next year !
Everyone enjoyed the food and drink that the pub had and it was a great social gathering to end this year, we look forward to welcoming you all to the 13th SUN INN STEAM & VEHICLE MEET on SATURDAY 16th DECEMBER 2017.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED AND ATTENDED THIS YEARS MEET, OUR 12TH, IT WAS ANOTHER ENJOYABLE AND SUCCESFUL DAY A GREAT WAY TO END 2016.
THE 13TH SUN INN STEAM & VEHICLE MEET WILL TAKE PLACE ON SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER 2017 STARTING AT 10AM.
