17th Anniversary Run to English Oak Vineyard - Sunday 8th May 2016
This years club Anniversary Run was the a local Vineyard near Poole, we all met in Dorchester in the warm sunshine that blessed the day, 19 cars which included two modern cars left at 10.30am with the lead vehicle being a 1959 Austin 101 Pick Up.
On leaving Dorchester we headed up over Came Down and to Broadmayne village. We then went across Warmwell to Crossways, waddock cross and down into the village of Bere Regis. Now up the hill on the Poole road to the turning to Wareham and down through the forest.
The route then took us through Sandford to the Bakers Arms round about where we headed towards Upton. A few turns and we were on the back roads once more to the English Oak Vineyard at Lytchett Matravers where we were welcomed by Andrew the owner.
After we all parked up, Andrew welcomed us all and invited us up to the visitor centre for a short talk. After this members were free to walk around / taste some of the wine and we all enjoyed our picnic lunches sat in the sunshine near the big Oak tree.
Several members bought some of the wine and everyone had a great enjoyable, relaxing day out.

36th Abbey Hill Steam Rally - 29th April - 2nd May 2016
This annual rally seems to kick off the season very nicely, and as always they had great support in all sections at the show, for example there were in the region of 200 vintage tractors, probably the most they have had in the history of this event.
One TOY club member has attended every Abbey Hill, our Len Watts with his 1947 Austin K4 lorry, he has owned this vehicle since 1975 and it has also attended the Great Dorset for 41 years to date !! The Hippo lorry they own was also on show, this vehicle was bought in 1988 and has been rallied since they restored it.
TOY members were out in force in the car section, Commercial section too many to mention. The usual parades of vehicles in the arena were enjoyed, plus the motorcycle team who seemed to draw the crowds when they performed in the afternoon.
Another good rally, and I am sure the 37th will be just as wonderful !

20th Swanage Charity Day & Classic Car Display - Sunday 24th April 2016
This year saw the 20th Anniversary of this early season event held in the car park in Swanage.
The weather was sunny and dry, but the wind was a bit keen, the turn out was pretty good with probably around 50 cars plus on display. Several TOY Club members were there which was good to see. This event was supporting local charities, and no doubt they will appreciate the funds that was raised.
Lets hope the 21st event next year will also be blessed with good weather !

Jurassic Classic Drive It Day - Sunday 17th April 2016
We had an excellent turn out of members and their cars and we all met up in brilliant sunshine at the Victoria Inn at Chickerell. This run serves as a pre rally test run for our cars, following the winter when we tend not to use our classics so much due to the weather. The entire journey was most enjoyable along the coast road with its spectacular views.
Abbotsbury Hill is always a challenge for older vehicles. Several club members were taking pictures and we thank both Dave and Andy for doing this. Although West Bay was very busy we all managed to get parked, we were joined by a club member from Charmouth with his rare Citroen Taxi.
It was a splendid day with GREAT WEATHER, GREAT CARS AND GREAT COMPANY !

Gillingham Gathering - Sunday February 28th 2016
This is the Annual early season gathering organised by Commercial Transport In Preservation Club, it starts with an optional road run from Warminster to Gillingham, or you can go direct to Nick Bakers yard at Gillingham.
TOY members have always supported this event, and this year was no different and several members took along their cars to join the line up. Peter and Anita Meech made their first visit to this event in their Sunbeam Rapier car which was nice to see, Kevin and Jill Andrews brought along their MGB, a regular car at these events. Will Aplin took along his 1960 Hillman Minx, another car that has supported this event in recent years. Len Watts was steaming around on his engine ' Miss Jodie Brown ' and Geoff Cole was in his Chevy Pick Up. Also a number of members visited without a classic vehicle to enjoy the vehicles in the glorious sunshine. As in previous years coffee, soup and pasties could be enjoyed in the ' café ' in the workshop. Music was provided by one of Nick Baker's fairground organ.
Another enjoyable event and space is running out !

Club Meeting - February 2nd 2016
Our February meeting was well attended by just under 60 people at The Lugger Inn, ' the home of the TOY Club '.
The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and read out apologies before going through the club business. The sad news of one of our members who passed away recently was announced, Kerry Day who's funeral is later this week.
After a short break our special guest speaker Mr Paul Atterbury from the BBC programme Antiques Road Show was introduced by Carle.
Paul gave a very interesting and amusing talk over the next hour or more, and it was probably one of the best talks we have ever had at the club !

New Years Party - January 9th 2016
This years Party was attended by just over 60 people made up of TOY club members and friends and family.
Everyone started to arrive from 7pm and by around 7.45pm everyone was ready for the music to start at 8.00pm. Carle welcomed every one to the 2016 Party and introduced our entertainer Mr Paul Lamming who is a Guitarist / Keyboard player and singer who as you know was replacing our original band for the evening.
The hall was looking great, thanks to Martin who as usual decorated the tables with flowers and tea lights to set the atmosphere. The raffle tables were full of superb prizes with a main prize of a car jack which was kindly donated by Sydenham's Hire Centre in Dorchester. Will & Val Hampshire was running the raffle, a big thank you to them for doing such a good job.
No sooner the music started so did the dancing and at 9pm we enjoyed the buffet which included deserts after wards.
The raffle raised a record amount this year, and we thank everyone for their support. More dancing until 10.30pm when the raffle was drawn by Carle and Wilf. Winners included Nigel Guppy, Martin, Ted Palmer, and many others. Everyone took to the floor again to enjoy the final part of the party and this came to a close at 11.30pm.
Our thanks to everyone who helped to clear the hall afterwards and we look forward now to our 2017 Party Night !

Club Meeting 'Natter & Noggin' - January 5th 2016
Our first meeting of the year was as usual a low attendance one, however 30 members enjoyed a ' Natter & Noggin ' at the Lugger Inn.
Carle the Chairman welcomed everyone and wished all a Happy New Year. Apologies were received from several members who were unwell and unable to attend the meeting. He reminded members of the February meeting when BBC Antiques Road Show Paul Atterbury will be coming to give us a talk, so we are expecting a large turn out of members.
It was reported everyone enjoyed both the Christmas Meal and The Sun Inn Meet before Christmas, and the Sun Inn event will be held again this year on a Saturday ( December 17th ) . This coming Saturday its our New Years Party, and sadly the band we had booked had to pull out due to illness, however we have managed to get a replacement to cover the evening.
The evening came to a close after the monthly raffle at just after 9.30pm.
