TOY's Annual Charity Classic Car And Fun Day History.
Transport Of Yesteryear's Annual Charity Classic Car and Fun Day first took place in July 1999 shortly after the club was formed. With around 30 cars and a few stalls it managed to raise enough money to donate £150 to Cancer Care Dorset. By 2001 things were getting bigger and new items were being added which included Stationary Engines.
Year by year new attractions were added and later a Dog Show became a popular item at the Show, music and dance has also featured in more recent years, with bands such as ' Stampede Dancers ' and Brass Tacks band. We have even featured a miniature steam railway on two occasions within the show site ! Birds Of Prey, Majorettes, Line Dancers also have been on the programme of events.
In 2011 we had more vehicles on site than ever before and more miniature steam engines than in previous years. Our 2012 Show has at least 4 new attractions to look forward to. In 2013 the club staged their 15th Anniversary Show. The 2014 Show saw another good year for the club's major event, with more new entries attending for the first time, lots of entertainment was enjoyed throughout the day, £1,250 was donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
2015 saw our 17th Annual Show and Fun Day on the same site in the heart of Chickerell at School Hill, we are looking forward to another good show, arrangements are going well and entries are coming in already ( February ) for this years event. We will be supporting the Air Ambulance again, our draw tickets will be available to buy from March 2015.
2016 our 18th Show was another great day, despite having to move site a few days before the Show into our car park field ! We had another great selection of vehicles and machinery. Our stage was supplied by Perryfields of Portland and the headliner was Nina Garcia who was very popular with everyone.
2017 was our 19th Show.
2018 was our 20th anniversary show and our final event !
The club's other major event is still running and the 2025 event will be on Sunday 1st June, HARDY COUNTRY CLASSIC TOUR
which supports the Weldmar Hospice in Dorchester. Entry details from Terry Downton the new organiser
