10th ANNIVERSARY SUN INN STEAM & VEHICLE MEET
Sunday 21st December 2014
This years SUN INN MEET was our 10th one, it all started with one Steam engine and about 4 cars and over the years it has become very popular and well supported by local enthusiasts not only in our club but other clubs and friends we meet at various events during the summer months.
The Steam engine that was at the very first meet appeared just before 12 noon with its owner Jim Goddard to take its place in the car park.
This year we not only had Cars we had Stationary engines, around 10, Steam Engines in total 5, a David Brown 990 tractor owned by TOY Club member Will Aplin, the Austin K4 lorry owned by Len Watts, a nice Jeep, our friends from the Dorset Car Club and the WVPS joined us with some of their vehicles.
One of the star vehicles for me was a 1933 Morris car all the way from Gillingham, the owner Dan use to own a small steam engine, but had a change of direction and bought this car very recently, it was a great exhibit at this years event, thanks Dan. The local Scooter club also came along this year and we also had a few Harley Davidison bikes from Bournemouth join us for an hour or so. Many people involved in this meet enjoyed a meal from the pub and we thank everyone at THE SUN INN for their hospitality and long may this continue.
Finally MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL, hope to see you in 2015 !

TOY CLUB CHRISTMAS CLUB MEETING, December 2nd at The Lugger Inn
This years club meeting was well attended, the Chairman welcomed everyone and read out quite a few apologies from club members who were unable to be there for various reasons. After the club business we had a break, this was followed by being entertained by Nikki who sung some 60's songs and Christmas songs for us.
In the longer break members enjoyed mince pies before the entertainment was finished off by our Carle and Diane with their medley of Christmas songs. The evening was rounded off with the members christmas tree raffle, all in all it was a great meeting to finish the year off.

OCTOBER CLUB NIGHT
Our October Club night at the Lugger Inn was well attended with around 60 members attending. .Club Chairman Carle opened the meeting and covered events over the past month, and went on to inform members that the Menu for our Christmas meal at the Wishing Well Restaurant on December 6th was inside your "Toy Times" Club magazine, Diane was taking members Christmas meal orders and payments, she was also issuing Rotary Club Charity Christmas Draw Tickets to members to sell. Diane has asked me to remind you to Book your meal early (as numbers are limited)and the very latest you can book and pay for your meal is the DECEMBER CLUB NIGHT,likewise she requires your Rotary Club Draw ticket stubs and money and any unsold tickets returned at December Club night..
Carle also reminded members that you can now book up for your New Year Party on January 10th at the Memorial Hall,Upwey and to see Sally and Dave to book your place.
Many Club members had attended the Mangerton Mill Rally last Sunday which signalled the end of the main Rally season, however he also reminded members of the 10th Annual Sun Inn meet on Sunday December 21st from 11 am. this is officially the last event of the year which normally has a very good selection of Vehicles plus Miniature Steam Engines and stationary engines.
Following the Club business Carle introduced Leanne Colverson from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and presented her with our cheque for £1250.00. Following and during the presentation our official Club photographer Nicki was busy taking loads of pictures to record yet another successful TOY event.
The Chairman had compiled a quick 20 min Quiz, purely for fun,and this took us on nicely up in time to carry out the draw for the club night raffle . Tonight was our "Meat Raffle" and Carle thanked members who had brought along extra prizes,he also thanked Martin for organising the raffle which raised about £20.00 for club funds.
The meeting closed at around 9.45 PM.

MANGERTON MILL 2014
The weather guaranteed another great turnout for the annual Autumn Rally at the Mangerton Mill just outside of Bridport. Stationary enines were popping away as they do,a couple of tractors and an Austin Truck were ion evidence and a large percentage of the many cars were TOY Club members ,who always support this Rally in this lovelly peaceful setting. It was nice to see a few faces that we havent seen for a while, namely our Shirley (Andrews) and Margaret (Dethick. As you can see our official Photographer Nicki was busy taking photgraphs and taking full advantage of the beautiful scenery here at the Mill.
As is the Tradition we left Mangerton around 3.30pm after the raffle had taken place and headed for West Bay promenade to enjoy an Ice Cream..
With Di,Martin and Nicki on board we travelled in the Beardmore back along the coast road home to Chickerell, by which time the temperature had changed quite dramatically by late afternoon.
A great day out in great company.

THE 46TH GREAT DORSET STEAM FAIR 27th Aug - 31st Aug
This year's Great Dorset Steam Fair sadly experienced bad weather a few days before the opening day, this created problems getting vehicles on to the Tarrant Hinton site. However on the first day crowds came through the gates and enjoyed this years event, of course the ground conditions was very muddy and this restricted movement for the Steam engines and therefore there was no ' play pen ' action.
This years main feature was the WW1 displays marking 100 years since the start of the 1914 war, this included trenches, old vehicles etc relating to the war a most interesting exhibition at this years show. By the Thursday afternoon a few engines were moving in the heavy haulage arena.
TOY members were in attendance with our regular Reporter Andy Collier, Will Aplin and on site exhibiting were Len and Milly Watts who have been attending for well over 40 years, first with their old Marshall tractor followed by their 1947 Austin K4 brewers dray that they have owned since 1975.
Of course their Leyland Hippo of 1950 and the steam engine ' Miss Jodie Brown ' were also on display at this years show. Visitors still had plenty to see over the 600 acre site, and it was the second year that the wood sawing , threshing and heavy plant being in the lower field, this again proved successful and no doubt they will remain there in the future.
The 47th Steam fair will I am sure be something to look forward to and hopefully will get better weather !

MELPLASH SHOW 2014
Buckham Fair Sunday 17th August
The sixth Buckham Fair started early for our members as we met in Dorchester at 7.00am ready to leave at 7.15am for the Buckham site near Beaminster.
On arrival at 7.55am the weather was dry but dull with a risk of a shower, well during the morning we had a couple showers, but later the sun came out and we enjoyed a better afternoon. This year we had a total of 18 exhibits which included a Stationary Engine owned by Phil & Carole Moore by invitation.
A nice selection of cars which included this year two guests who owned VW Campers vans both 1968 and they created a lot of interest during the day, as did all of our cars to be honest. It was nice to welcome John and Jo with their TR6 all the way from Suffolk who are on holiday every year around the fair date, so good to see them again. We had the usual welcome from Martin and Philippa Clunes, and they were delighted to have us at their event again this year.
The charity this year was the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, and later the helicopter flew over the fair which was nice to see.
The Dog Show and Pony Show seems to get bigger every year as does all the food stalls, and other stalls / fair rides etc. the crowds soon filled the site when it opened at 9.00am. Although we had to stay until 6pm this year, the day soon went by and I am sure everyone enjoyed their day .
Thank you for your support,
Nick
