On a sunny summer's evening 21 members and guests met in Dorchester, which included 7 vintage and classic cars to run out to
near by Piddlehinton to the base of the Plankbridge Hutmakers, we arrived at 7.00pm and we were greeted by the owner Richard Lee.
Richard gave us a very interesting and informative tour of his work shop and everyone seemed very impressed with the end results he and his team produce's. Richard was asked a number of questions before many enjoyed coffee and biscuits. Among the cars on display were a 1927 Alvis owned by club member Don Rowley, Carle's 1935 Beardmore Taxi, Will Aplin's 1960 Hillman Minx, Barry Rice's MGB, Calvin Stone's Vauxhall Cresta, Pete Walker's Humber and Graham Jarman's Vanden Plas .

DTFC Fun Day, Dorchester Sunday 25th May
This event has been supported by our club for a number of years, thank you to the few TOY Club members who came along, Carle and Martin with the 1935 Beardmore Taxi , Dave & Jacki Warwick with their Triumph TR and Justin Lee with his 1970's Land Rover.
Other vehicles included Fred White's Jeep ( a former member of our club ), Jeremy Lee with his 1953 Scammel lorry plus two members from the Dorset Car Club. Sadly the wind made it rather cold on the ' Great Field ', however members of the public came along and supported this annual Fun Day.
The usual stalls and attractions along with live music made up the event.

TOY Club anniversary run to Blue Pool
The club's Anniversary Run was blessed with fine weather and a good selection of cars ranging from as early as 1927.
21 cars in total enjoyed the back lanes from Dorchester to Blue Pool near Wareham, a few members had driven on new roads for the first time !
We were warmly welcomed at Blue Pool and our static display was the centre piece of the car parking area . Members enjoyed a walk around and their picnic lunches in the warm sunshine. One of the reason's for returning to this venue was we came here in the year 2000 for our first club Anniversary Run and therefore we thought it be nice to visit again. Many stayed most of the afternoon and enjoyed the relaxing surroundings of this lovely part of Dorset.
Pictures were kindly taken by our club photographer Nikki.

15th Toy Anniversary.
With our own TOY Club Drive it Day back in April being cancelled due to high winds and heavy rain, our anniversary run on SUNDAY May 4th became the first official club event of 2014.
It is hard to believe that our Club is 15 years old on this very day, On a chilly May evening back in 1999 Nick Aplin,Ivan Downs and myself called a gathering of old vehicle enthusiasts to the Victoria Inn at Knights in the Bottom Chickerell with a view to forming a new Vintage/Classic vehicle club.
We were astounded by the amount of people, some with their classic cars who turned up. With such huge interest shown,we signed up 39 members on that first night and TRANSPORT OF YESTERYEAR was launched. I am pleased to say that we have never looked back, and today membership stands just over 100 members. One of the most active clubs in the area,We are one of only a handful of clubs who produce a monthly magazine which keeps every member right up to date with events and news, that coupled with what I consider a superb website run by club member Kim Clark gives instant stop press news and cancellations etc.
Our 15th celebration run to the BLUE POOL at Furebrook.
In charge of organising our anniversary run this year was our club "TOY TIMES" editor and his Dad Will. They organised a very nice (off the main roads) run leaving Dorchester and travelling through Woodsford, and on past The Seven Stars at Wool turning right up through New Buildings then via Coome Keynes with carpets of Bluebells in the roadside woodlands, and onto the Blue Pool where we were met by our old friend Mr Tom Barnard, who together with his sister who is now 85 years old own and run this tranquil spot at Furzebrook Nr.Wareham.
We celebrated our first anniversary year of T.O.Y with a run to the Blue Pool, and at the invitation of Tom and his sister it was fitting for us to return to this lovely unspoilt place for this our 15th year.
My thanks to Nick and Will for organising this event, which was a very memorable and enjoyable day, made all the better by the weather which was sunny for most of the day, although slightly cooler driving a Beardmore open fronted Taxicab, but it is only May so it was really a very nice day.

34th Abbey Hill Steam Rally 2 - 5 May 2014
This years rally was held over four days and attracted hundreds of great exhibits of all manner for the keen enthusiast and members of the public to enjoy . The Steam Engines had been re - located which seemed to be an improvement bringing them to the front of the Show rather than being behind a marquee etc. as in previous years.
The car section was another large one this year, as was the Tractors and indeed all other sections within the show seemed to be full. The usual parades in the main ring were accompanied by commentary by John Reeves who has a wealth of knowledge on all vehicles and machinery. I am sure the 35th Abbey Hill Rally will not disappoint us either !!
Sunday 13th April
A very busy day for the ' Classic Car' scene with various events taking place, firstly it was the Annual Classic Classic Car Show at Haselbury Mill in Somerset, where around 100 cars gathered.
The Mudeford Quay Car Meet attracted a good number of cars for their regular Sunday meet ( 2nd Sunday of the month ). The first Classics On the Prom took place on Bournemouth seafront where around 140 cars were on show, with some being turned away as they ran out of space for anyone ! TOY Club members supported some of these events ahead of our own ' Drive It Day Run ' on April 20th.
TOY Club v Woolbridge Motor Club skittles match.
On Saturday 22nd March the TOY club met with members of the Woolbridge Motor Club for the now traditional annual thrashing at skittles.
Well done Woolbridge and thank you for a great match.
March Meeting
The March meeting was well attended and members were treated to a riveting talk by Rob Curtis on the ancient art of smuggling around Dorset and beyond, TOY members must have enjoyed the talk as many were later found swinging candle lanterns at the Condor.

GILLINGHAM GATHERING 2014 Sunday 23rd February
The early season event attracted a large amount of people and vehicles to make a good day out in North Dorset. Several TOY club members went along and seemed to enjoy the ' social ' gathering.
FEBRUARY CLUB MEETING
Our February Club night fell on one of the worst nights of storms this year The rain just bucketed down and the wind was so strong that even standing up was a challenge. However around 30 members braved the elements and arrived safely.
Members were arriving telling me of the hairy driving conditions that they had experienced, and that as conditions were worsening they did not want to be late leaving. I started the meeting 15 minutes late as our members Dennis and Laura and Norman and Sylvia from Broadstone were on route, and Norman was scheduled to do one of his famous quizzes. They arrived just as we started the meeting so I went through the Club business as quickly as possible. Following a chat with Norman and our members,it was decided to cancel the quiz night, and draw the monthly raffle.this would enable members to get back home before any road closures were put in. We had to bear in mind that some members present had travelled from Devon,Broadstone ,North Dorset and Portland .
So our meeting opened at 8.15pm and closed at 8.45 pm. This has to be shortest ever Club night but it was the right decision in view of this unpredictable and treacherous weather. Our thanks go to all those that braved the weather.
LETS HOPE THE WEATHER WILL BE GOOD FOR OUR MARCH MEETING,WHEN OUR REGULAR GUEST SPEAKER WILL BE RON CURTIS. AND DONT MISS OUR APRIL CLUB NIGHT WHEN WE WELCOME BACK BONNIE SARTIN,FORMER MEMBER OF "THE YETTIES"TO ENTERTAIN US. AND NORMANS QUIZ NIGHT WILL NOW BE ON OUR MAY CLUB MEETING FOLLOWING THE AGM ..
SEE YOU THERE. Carle.
