Picture above shows a scene from a TOY fun day.
18th Annual Classic Car Show & Fun Day (Chickerell Show) 2016.
This year just before the show the decision was made to move the event in to the adjacent field which we usually use as our car park, due to partly water logged show site at School Hill. We are very grateful to the farmer Mr Legg for his co- operation and help to allow our show to go on this year.
Although the day brought us a few rain showers we continued and it was again a very enjoyable day, we had a good turn out of vehicles and machinery. This year we had quite a few different and rare vehicles join us, which included a 1935 Cord and a 1957 Dodge to name just a couple. It was nice to have three miniature steam engines joining us this year from the Weymouth Model Engineering Club, and we had the newly made miniature Jeep owned by Steve Westaway. Stationary engine line up was very good again and we had the wonderful sounds of the fair ground organ setting the atmosphere. With a number of Autojumble stalls and car booters there was plenty to see and buy.

During the day our own Cake & Tea stall were kept busy, our thanks go to Vron Aplin and her sister Kay for running this popular stall for us again this year. Club members Sally, Maureen and Sue were running our Tombola stall and Steve Haylor was on the draw stall, so we thank you all. Our electrician Nigel Smith and his wife Jo made sure we were safe and everyone had power, we thank you for your continued help in this area.
The stage this year was kindly provided by Perryfield of Portland, our thanks to them and Calvin for arranging this. Starting the music off was our friends Chris Groves and Brian who have been attending our show for a few years now. Later we enjoyed the international entertainer Nina Garcia who performed twice on the stage and was very popular.
The Mayor of Chickerell and Deputy Mayor of Chickerell joined us in the afternoon along with our special guest Paul Atterbury from the BBC Antiques Road Show who later presented the awards. As with most years we had lots of good feedback and everyone seemed to enjoy the day despite the odd cow pat !!
